Year 2013 : Art Exposition in San Gusmè, Siena
Exhibition of stone'' cheese''
At the castle of San Gusmè, delightful medieval village of Chianti in the province of Siena, was held this autumn an exhibition of local artists in the castle garden.
Dario Ruffini participated with his new works inspired by the Tuscan countryside and rural world which is the soul of this region.
These forms of pecorino cheese and bread are made of different travertine types, all locally sourced from various quarries in the area.
The project, created for fun, on the occasion of the birthday of the father of the sculptor, then conquered his clients, becoming a real range of products.
Year 2012 : ''Art and Crafts'' exposition, Siena
Books Fountain in Travertine
This work, carried out on the occasion of Arts and Crafts for the City of Siena,
is a fountain composed of a travertine back panel,
and a theory of travertine Books , painted with natural earth pigments and sealed with beeswax.
The books on the top form a series of waterfalls which then fall into the basin below.
Using those '' Books'' have been made even fireplaces, libraries and small items of furniture.
This line comes from a divertissement of the artist on the occasion of the birthday of a writer friend, for the first time on that occasion, he made a book of stone inscribed with the date of the event. The gift was so pleased that many of those present at the party began to order similar items for various occasions, and hence the idea to create a range of products on this issue.
Year 2010 : Book fair, Turin
The books in stone by Dario Ruffini on display at the Lingotto in Turin
by Marina Pellitteri
Memory Unveiled ,the theme of the Book Fair of Turin, which will be held May 13 to 17 , the choice of memory as a leitmotif of the Show 2010 comes from the observation of a paradox: at a time when , thanks to new technologies, we have endless databases, so vast as to defy our imagination and ability to manage , we realized that man's relationship with the past became distracted , intermittent, almost annoyed.
There will be special guests at the Lingotto , conferences, meetings and many exhibitors . For the first time , this year , you can admire the works of Dario Ruffini . The Books of the artist sculpted in cold travertine , modeled mainly the ancient art : classical , Renaissance , Gothic .
" On the journey of knowledge of the reality - claims Dario Ruffini - the book is the momentary gap through which you can approach life or turn away , through a change of scale or grandeur of life that allows you to read the reports and therefore its true meaning and its most noble qualities . " The stone so cold and hard, so arid , so marble , assumes significance in the artist's sublime , a symbolic representation of the word, the stone is able to express what the word says .
For about three or four years , says the artist of Lumezzane I'm working on the books of stone. The inspiration came from a joke , I knew in fact, a friend who translated texts from Latin and greek , one day I got the idea to give him a gift : so was born my first book " The Iliad . Then came the second, a treatise on optics that I gave to another friend of mine : that was the optician . In my books, there are allegories that are born from the inspiration of the moment and I'm experiencing . Mine is a reading of symbols. It ' a manner of speaking, to express myself in a different way from the conventional one. In life, with all the ups and downs , with all the dilemmas , and unforeseen circumstances that man is having to face and deal with , I felt the need to express in my own way all my feelings and my way of living and to hear . For me it is very important to learn to read and discover the symbols of art. "
